I said some time ago that if the board had any sense they should give Ange an extension immediately or run the risk of losing him as other clubs come calling. Well hate to say I told you so, but I told you so,
Aston Villa has emerged as a possible suitor, along with Gerrard and a couple of others.
A well-connected friend down in Melbourne informs me that current Yokohama F. Marinos manager and former Rangers man Kevin Muscat is top of the list to replace Gerrard should the latter take the reigns at Villa Park. Muscat replaced Ange Postecoglou at both Yokohama FM and Melbourne Victory.
The story should break in the media very soon.
So does this mean Gerrard will go to Aston Villa instead of Ange?
I cant see Ange moving, he needs to get some silverware and prove himself first, having done that his price will skyrocket !!!
Ange isn’t going to Villa just because Michael Bridges suggested it. Rubbish rumour.
I can tell you that Muscat’s Melbourne-based manager has had contact from Ibrox.
A £50m deficit ( £26.1m in Equity Confetti and a £23.5m loss on top) and needing an estimated £7.5m ( conservative estimate) to finish the Season might be considered a slightly concerning yes
Not a chance in hell Ange is going to villa, slippy G will use them as a stepping stone to replacing Klopp. Sevco heading down the Aussie from Japan route we are rent free inside their heads
Put it this way ,I would expect to see the MSM Free Advertisements for Rangers players in the January window to increase on the run up to Christmas yes.
Gerrard has already spoken publicly about the fact he wants signings ,will be fully aware of the Finances and is now apparently open to talks with Villa.
Ange going to Aston V what a joke who makes up some of these stories on this site… LOL
As for the ‘HUNS!’
‘Snake’: Rangers Fans React To Steven Gerrard Exit To Aston Villa
Now let’s get back to reality Rodgers is hated by some sections of the Celtic fans after winning 7 trophies … which went on to become 4 trebles … Dream on that the last 2 leagues were won by that tw*t of a manager re-hired in a shower …
Slippy wins 1 thing in 3 and a half years …
To compare Rodgers to Slippy and him leaving is an absolute joke …
Time for the Celtic fans and the HUNS to both accept that ANY decent manager would leave the SPL for a shot at the EPL same as any decent player with any kind of aspirations …
KT
VVD
and the list goes on …
Celtic are moving slowly in the right direction… Lets all back Ange to beat the HUNS this year to take us directly into the champs league …
If Ange can achieve this in one year with the ■■■■■■■■■ he walked into it will surely show just how little ‘slippy’ actually achieved … 1-9
That t*** of a Manager as you call him and disregard delivered 5 of the 9 League Titles you’ve supposedly been singing about for the last Decade.
He also took Celtic to the last 16 of the Champions League beating arguably the best Club side in World Football with a backline of Lustig Ambrose Wilson and Matthews at Left Back,a loanee up front and an 18 year old on the bench who was playing fitba up the park with his pals two years previous,
He also deliver 5 Titles as a player and represented our Club in a European Final.
Rodgers had no real Competition in Scotland under his tenure at Celtic , a budget that dwarfed every other Club in the Leaague and sauntered to every title as a result.
First sign of a Challenge he bolted out the door during the night mid Season without even saying goodbye to the guys that repaired his damaged CV.
Great Domestic Manager no doubt but a serial failure in Europe where he’s been found out at every Club despite having budgets Lennon could only dream about.
No Manager bar O’Neill had the financial backing Rodgers had at Celtic to that point.
So excuse some of us if we don’t call him for what he did and how he went about it.
Lenny’s failings are well documented, constantly highlighted and tend to override his achievements with some.
What cannot be ignored is the fact he achieved what he did at Celtic under conditions no Celtic player,Captain or Manager has had to work under in our entire history.
Beaten, abused, life threatened he’s had the lot at Celtic And still delivered.
You know Cyanide surprisingly I agree with almost everything you say…
His MISTAKE was he returned …
The board should NEVER have rehired him.
Unlike most I dont give a sh*t about the 10 in a row in this second rate league …
Celtic won 9 in a row under the great Jock Stein and the European cup beating Real Madrid / Manu in their own back yard the year after CELTIC were the BEST SIDE IN EUROPE…
And but for arguments in the lounge of a hotel about bonuses the night before the Feyenoord final would have won that too…
Rangers bought their 9 in a row with a team that won zero in Europe so it is incomparable …
Rodgers took Liverpool almost to the pinnacle of the EPL only for slippy to let him
down …
( Liverpool are my 2nd team KING KENNY!!)
In addition Rodgers has went on to win the FA cup with Leicester…
Lennon’s career after his first stint at Celtic …if that’s what you can call it …was abject to say the least …
Liverpool spent £300m on transfers under Rodgers and failed to make it out of the Group Stages of the Europa League with a side that already contained the likes of Skyrtl Agger Johnson Lucas Gerrard Suarez and Sterling.
That’s why he was moved on he was simply not good enough in Europe.
Same at Celtic with a 30% increase in spending at the Club over the previous 3 Managers two of whom reached the last 16 of the Champions League.
Lennon hadn’t even Managed before he got the gig at Celtic,he took us to the last 16 as relative rookie.
Gerrards record in Europe eclipses Rodgers ffs.
There is no doubt he has the Domestic stuff sorted ( mibees not this Season going off results) as a coach but Europe?
Geis peace bud.
In that environment he’s average at best.
