Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is expecting the imminent return of three or four players that will strengthen his first team. The Celtic starting eleven against Real Betis last night was notably weakened with some players out of position and a youngster given his first start of the season. Key players such as Kyogo Furuhashi, James…
Ange isn’t being strictly honest here. Yes, his team did play some fantastic football - the problem is that when they went 2-0 up then wnet to sleep for a while. We used to see this happen under Rodgers and Lennon as well, it’s like they think it’s job done after 20 minutes of hard work and it always comes back to haunt them.
There’s a common denominator in this that is being overlooked I feel.
John Kennedy.
He’s supposed to be our defensive coach and has been ever present under all 3 but Rodgers perhaps less so.
I think he has been retained out of of some misguided loyalty given his career ending tackle playing for Scotland.
As a defender he was far from the finished article and still learning his trade at 26.
I keep going back to the fact we deployed McGregor at left back no less than 11 times under Rodgers and once under Lenny.
Agreed. I think maybe the time has come for Celtic to part comapny with John Kennedy. I have no idea why he’s been allowed to hang around so long under so many managers, but time to cut ties there, I think.
Why did Postecoglu not react quicker and hook Soro? Same dithering in The Rangers game! The manager needs help and it certainly doesn’t help having Dull Kennedy and Strachan by your side. This game was totally mismanaged by the men on the sidelines!!!
