Celtic captain Callum McGregor has explained why he didn’t want to leave Parkhead in the summer despite being linked with a big-money EPL move. The Hoops had to undergo a major rebuild a year ago as their 9-in-a-row winning team was ripped apart. The likes of Kristoffer Ajer, Odsonne Edouard, and Ryan Christie all decided…
Only those who clearly don’t listen to or understand the mindset of a player like Callum McGregor ever thought he was going to leave Celtic last Summer.
Callum had a make or break at Celtic years ago when he was done for drink driving.
The Club could have tore up his contract and sent him hurtling out into the wilderness his cards marked as a no user.
Instead Celtic put their arm around him told him to go sort his head and immediate future out and to his credit Callum never looked back.
He’s been a model professional from that day, worked his erchie off in England to regain the trust our Club put in him.
Since then he’s been groomed as Scott Browns understudy whom I fully believe has been instrumental in installing the confidence Callum has in leading our Club forward.
At no point has McGregor intimidated he wanted to leave Celtic.
Quite the opposite in fact.
So where folk were getting he was the off I just don’t know?
What they don’t know some just make up.
He will retire from Football a Celtic legend I think.
A top quality footballer and a top quality example of what hard work and determination can bring.
Anthony Ralston is another example as is James Forrest.
You can’t buy bhoys like these at Clubs like ours without spending fortunes ,you nurture them and watch them grow.
Can’t wait for the next McGregor or Forrest to emerge from Lennoxtown.
I think young Robertson’s path is similar to Calmac and one to watch in the next few years.
Celtic - Leicester, where do you even start the comparison?
Leicester will never ever win the European cup never mind need a stadium to hold 60,000 fans
Celtic much better choice for our captain
