Ange Postecoglou made an important decision yesterday that’s gone under the radar when he broke up the David Turnbull/Tom Rogic partnership. Celtic fans had been crying out for one of the duo to be replaced in the starting line-up. Despite their obvious individual talents, the pair too often occupied the same space and found it…

Completely agree with your comments. Bitton played ok for sure but i think McCarthy is a better player and should play alongside Sorro or Bitton in a two in front of the back four leaving McGregor and Abada and Jota in a three behind Kyogo. This would be four two three one. Turnbull and Rogic would be impact players if needed; as \\\\\rogic was on Sunday. I do not believe they are 90 minute players at all particularly Rogic and yes Turnbull does look exhausted,

It evidently escaped your keen eye that in moving McGregor up and dropping Bitton in there we had no out ball for the defence and as a result they spent 70 minutes passing it across the backline with mixed results?
Not only that David but McGregor was only in the game in patches as the ball was inevitably by passing him and going up the left wing where Jota was being marked out the game by Ramsay?
The game changed when Bitton came off and Rogic came on resulting in McGregor dropping into his now familiar role as the Deep Lying Playmaker and out ball for the defence.
This resulted in our Midfield taking a grip of the game and the attacks now coming through the midfield again.
McGregor is key to how this new approach will work and shifting him from that Regista role will only result in one thing.
Slow or sideways ball in the transition from defence to attack.
There is no player who can play the role McGregor does at Celtic in fact there are few midfielders in Europe that can play his role successfully.
Please watch these two well produced tutorials by Tifo Football and perhaps it may give you a better understanding of the role McGregor has and the key differences between a Defensive minded Mid and a true Regista

I think there are a few self appointed Celtic “experts” out there that could do with watching these.
