Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond has been in the news recently, after it emerged, as reported by the Times, he pulled out of backing a proposed Atlantic League, which would have seen the Hoops and four other Scottish clubs play teams from Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Ireland. It is certainly interesting timing for Desmond to…

Your discussion on the future for Celtic to my mind and i am sure the majority of supporters, is way off what is best for the club. Are you really saying that we can stay in the SPL with any teams that are left. What are you saying? We are a club that with proper management from the board would be able to compete in a European league. Come on now. What are you scared of ? Do you want to go forward or backwards ? We could win fifty in a row with the teams that might be left. It would be worth exactly nothing. We need to be ambitious, not behave like frightened rabbits. If the league is a good one, let’s join it. Stop being frightened !!! Stop trembling with fear at the thought of playing foreign opposition !!! If the league is a good one join it. !!! Join it !!! This immediate acceptance of the decision of Mr Desmond, who has done wonderful things for the club and football in general, is ridiculous. Completely ridiculous. What were the reasons for his decision ? Does he want an Atlantic League in the future ? We need proper explanation as to what is going on. Being an ambitious club is something that the supporters want. They do not want to be a club hiding in the SPL afraid of their own shadows when a potentially higher league is on offer. What is going on ???
