It’s difficult to know whether to actually admire the board’s stubbornness when it comes to Neil Lennon or not. You would’ve thought that there would’ve been emergency protocols in place for yesterday’s game. Nevermind it feeling like a last-chance saloon – that was what last week’s game against Ross County should’ve been. Celtic should’ve had…
I disagree with you David that Celtic should spend money on new players in january. We spent £5 million on the Greek international goalkeeper in summer. Greece don’t concede too many goals because their defence is well organised and you don’t become a bad keeper overnight. Even if Celtic built a brick wall in front of goal our defence would still concede plenty of goals. We also have plenty of midfield and forward options. Spend the money on a management team that’s premier class because signing more players with our current coaching team is pointless and when the board do get around to relieving our current management team of their duties we will need major funds to build again(assuming their will be 4/5 players moving in summer). What a mess PL has got the club into. DD has some serious decisions to make.
Hi Stephen mate, thanks for the comment!
I think it’s becoming more and more clear that the board are going to stick by Lennon unfortunately. That’s despite the fact some of his stats so far this season are worse than Tony Mowbray’s at this time back in the 2009/10 campaign! Everything about it has been a shambles. But if they’re going to stand by Lennon I think it’s clear they need another strong powerful centre-back and ideally a new goalkeeper. It’s clear Barkas isn’t working and Lennon deserves to be held accountable for that. But if Fraser is available for example, I don’t see us not going for him. Some of the goals we’re conceding is still down to dreadfully poor goalkeeping for me. But we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks!
Hi David As I said earlier Barkas has found himself in a situation that even Manuel Neur(German keeper) would struggle with. As you said earlier what sensible footballer would want to sign for us in January. Keep the powder dry as there will be big changes in the summer both managerial and players. With regards to keeping NL and his backroom team PL is beyond reasonable logic and this will be his Waterloo and we know what happened to Napolean. Theres plenty of desolate islands around Scotland and Ireland lol
