Celtic hero John Hartson has called out SFA referees after a beyond questionable penalty shout at Ibrox last night. Fashion Sakala won a penalty from an incident with David Bates. Honestly, you can try to find enough contact for the Rangers striker to go down for yourself, if you like [SPFL]. It was a ludicrous…
It’s not pundits we need to speak out, it is Celtic football club
Just look at Sakala’s reaction. He was as surprised as anyone that Brother Beaton gave the penalty. Honest mistakes ? No ! Plain cheating.
How can Celtic call out abysmal decisions made at other games??? I agree with you that clubs should call it out, but that’s all clubs and not just Celtic. Making statements in the papers or radio shows isn’t e answer either. It needs to be as a group, and petitioned to the SPFL & SRA in an official manner in such a way it has to be addressed one way or another.
HAIL HAIL
KEEP THE FAITH:four_leaf_clover:
i was at Easter road last night and at half time when it was 2-1 and i asked who the ref was at ibrox and i said they will get a penalty in the second half it is so blatant with brother John he nearly laughs when he gives them.
What we can complain about is BBC rangers they highlighted the supposed tug/push for the hun award and agreed it was a spot kick yet they failed to discuss the clear push and hold on a Motherwell player for a penalty not given they didnt even highlight this because it was more a penalty that brother John gave.
Ive banged the drum for long and weary for any up and coming refereeing officials in scotland this current crop will prevent you from participating in world cup finals, european finals, champions league finals,Europa league finals because of their bias and inept performances, maybe its time to impliment bringing in foreign officials to bring back some honesty into our game.
The Aberdeen guy was pulling his jersey but whether that was enough for a penalty who knows🤷🏻♂️
“We got lucky
If that was awarded against us or for any other team in the Scottish Premiership, we’d be laughing at how bad a decision it was by the referee.
Let’s forget our allegiances for one moment and look at that decision properly. When you do that, you can see it’s definitely not a penalty.”
Above is the Ibrox News view of last nights decision. The league table would look very different now if honest mistakes did not play a part. Celtic can start by calling out the incorrect decisions in our games. It’s up to other clubs to do the same. Beaton should never have reffed again after his appearance at an RFC supporters pub after one Glasgow Derby game. Time to call it out officially.
Couldn’t agree more. I was shocked by Shelley and James on Sportscene saying it was a definite penalty. If the ‘honest mistakes’ aren’t even going to be picked up by the main (respected) pundits, then what chance do we have making any complaints about them?
There are 30 million reasons why there will be a conveyor belt of “poor” refs.
In what other league would know supporters be given a whistle and a wee can of spray?
That’s right…Scotland.
The best we can do is call it out. The Rangers fans should be embarrassed.
There was no way the Dons were leaving with 3 points after Walter’s passing sadly. HH
If he was having his shirt PULLED!!!then why did he fall forward, a person being pulled should fall backwards.
Top Tip. Have a couple of quid on Rangers getting a pen in every game BUT a fiver or a tenner if they go behind by a goal or two.
I’ve always said refs are always rangers orientated, always were in the Lisbon lions era also, Jock stein used to tell his players ok guys
It’s us v rangers and the referee
we go to try score several goals to win the game as if it’s close they shall get an award handed them. Same tday as we know winners of SPL title this season get automatic entry into champs league and the team wins this SPL title also receive around 40m why we see refs aiding RFC so many times when a game is tight.
If a RFC game is easy with say a 3/0 scoreline in their favour refs are sly they then won’t hand them dodgy decisions, but in a match close they do as we have seen several times already this season. Other teams like Aberdeen need to open out also more so about the favours handed to RFC from refs.
if var comes to the spfl it’s got to be neutral refs
That’s the problem, they’re incapable of making a correct decision, I get the feeling we’ll suffer the same levels of outrage, only in slow motion .
I saw the still photo of that that’s being bandied about by the few Rangers supporters who think it was a fair call for a pen (most Rangers fans I’ve seen seem to be of the opinion it was a terrible decision tbf), it’s for a millisecond & at full speed it’s more like he’s hooked his finger in Sakala’s shirt as he’s tried to get his arm across him. If that were the criteria for a penalty both sides should’ve had about 14 penalties each.
Sakala’s arched back, arm flailing, salmon leap is what sold it to brother Beaton. He did the same thing against St.Mirren a few days earlier when he mistimed his jump horribly for a sitter of a header, he tried the same mid air flail in an attempt to get a pen but the buddies defender had actually slipped over & was on the deck so it was physically impossible for him to have pushed/barged/elbowed Sakala in the back, it was pretty blatant, I expect him to keep at it, he’s a play acting wee pr**k
Agree, but won’t happen .
