Celtic midfielder David Turnbull has revealed a post-match meeting held by the staff after the Livingston debacle on Sunday. Livi managed to pull off yet another successful result against the Hoops in West Lothian. The 1-0 loss to the Lions left Celtic with no points from three away matches. That’s now six out of seven…
If you read the article with any amount of awareness you’ll see that David is not really saying anything: “We didn’t do well” (no explanation of why); “we need to do better” (no mention of what needs to change); “it’s just about putting a run together” (obviously! but how to do that); against Betis “it was just a few moments that killed us” ( 4 goals in a few moments suggest something is seriously wrong, but no mention of it). I know we can’t expect footballers (or even most managers) to give us detailed analysis of games but surely they need to go beyond the platitudes. Or is it the fate of a fan to be left feeling that the team never seems to see what you do?
To me it’s the two midfielders not attacking the box at all, Turnbull used to do it a lot but when oz is on he sits back. And on Sunday neither went into the box with the ball fast enough to cause any trouble to the Livi defenders. Wingers passing blindfolded and US Corners.
Indeed, and crossing into a box dominated by bug Livi guys. Ange (coaches?) should have been shouting instructions.
