Celtic youngster Luca Connell has had his first interview after signing for Queen’s Park as he expressed how “grateful” he is to finally be back playing senior football. Connell was signed for the Hoops from Bolton Wanderers back in the summer of 2019. It looked as though he was going to be fighting for a…
Whatever the new structure is going to be, it’s vital we sort this shambles out.
Bringing the likes of Connell in to develop should be a priority in our club strategy.
Instead we’re seeing our best talents desert us for offers elsewhere, and who could blame them.
I imagine we really sold them on our big plans for their futures, only to show an utter dereliction of duty.
If we don’t turn this situation around very quickly, I can see us gaining a terrible reputation amongst young player’s agents.
Perhaps if the colts get voted in to the new setup things will improve. Otherwise we’d be as well just closing down the academy altogether.
The least we could do is give the likes of Henderson, etc. a run out before the season ends.
But I wouldn’t bet against Brown for example keeping his place for the rest of the season at the expense of Soro.
A total reset is required from top to bottom. Let’s hope the new guys coming in are up to the task…
Nice one matey, however, I like the optimistic new guys coming in. All we need is what we can’t have is everyone’s good midfielder far too many, what we do need is someone able to tell the manager no chance not going to fit, even if the full team’s midfielders got injured the one’s in the squad would get first shot. So Luca etc are all basically wasted at the Celtic Football farce. Buy him he’s good and if we get an injury? then we’ve got twenty others to take his place.
Sorry matey just thought of this b4 closing. Luca was bought for Oz leaving, and a spare sub for whoever took his seat.
That’s possible but I’m not so sure tbh.
Luca’s pretty much seen as a deep lying, or at most, a central midfielder. Whereas Rogic is the classic “number 10”.
I imagine we bought him based on his excellent potential as he was already playing first team football for Bolton and had been called up to the full Ireland squad, and this was when he was 18!
Fast forward the best part of 2 years and we’ve completely stifled his potential.
We insist on playing our 36 year old captain in what are almost meaningless games.
Soro came in and looked the part before being “rested” for over a month to let Brown back in! So he’s another one whose development had stalled.
3 or 4 year’s ago I thought our academy was really going to be a shining example to other clubs but now it’s becoming a total farce.
If I was the parent or agent of some highly rated youngster, I wouldn’t let him go anywhere near our academy as things stand right now.
Totally agree with that, I wouldn’t want my kid playing in a no chance of playing team. I have been like this for years matey, every window income more midfielders? I just can’t work out all these players for two positions. Central/Defence or Central/Attacking? The other two are wingers, yes Rayan out on the right is very wrong instead of #10. Then Moi in the striker’s position instead of on the left wing? But he can come for the ball? As can the strikers? But the more games Lenny now John have him playing, the more chance of him being bought to be in the wrong position?
