I personally think it’s nonsense to think that the injury clause was the reason he didn’t sign. In my view, he didn’t sign because Liverpool came in for him and that, regardless of his likely lack of game-time, is always a dream move. Coming from Preston too. By all accounts the deal was done before they came in. And the reason we didn’t manage to bring in an alternative was because we messed about and left it too late once again. The whole saga is a total joke given Lennon was going on and on about wanting a new centre-back in January.

Agreed. I’m sure Liverpool wouldn’t blink at £30K/week in wages. Plus who WOULDN’T want to play for Klopp?

Also, they’ll likely sell him at a profit when their center backs are healthy and if he’s does turn good then they made a steal at that price.
