Originally published at: "Celtic were brilliant"; Eddie Howe finally explains summer decision
Eddie Howe has finally spoken out about the drama between himself and Celtic Football Club, after rejecting the club in the summer. The new Newcastle United boss explained his reasoning behind turning down Celtic in the summer. And, he says, there’s absolutely no bad blood between himself and the Bhoys. Howe looked all but certain…
Will watch with interest how things go at NUFC a club i have a lot respect for as i was brought up in the north of England. HH
What a load of tosh. He’s spineless and filled his pants at the thought of managing a club as huge as Celtic and didn’t want to go out into the big bad world without someone holding his hand.
Ange came himself and managed perfectly well. This is not sour grapes, but I never wanted Howe as I knew he didn’t have a strong enough character to handle Celtic. Was too used to an 11,000 stadium in the coast where it didn’t matter if he won or lost. He was also in the top 3 in arch of the 5 years he was at Bournemouth for having the worst defensive record.
It’s a bullet we’ll and truly dodged and it will always be his loss and our gain.
I have no Ill feeling toward him and hope he does well with Newcastle, but suspect he won’t get an extension to his contract or perhaps even see out the one given.
HAIL HAIL
KEEP THE FAITH:four_leaf_clover:
He would not have the character to manage Sellik as it’s a different culture up here as when brought up in England i got called a SCOTCHY Bd and came home when i was !3 got told i was a Fn B******d could not make it up. HH
By the way 13 when came back to Loyalist Ayrshire i was Fenian lol. HH
Good thing about Engerland they do not care about Religion unlike the west coast of Scotland. HAIL HAIL btw Liverpool is the biggest CTH city in England he should have known better. HH
I actually agree with you 100% about Howe.
This job was far too big for him.
I happen to think it is also too big for Ange. If a manager comes in it stands to reason that he should bring his own tools, not start using the real proper tools there already! I refer to Kennedy, Strachan and McManus!
If Ange had brought even one man in I’d be more complimentary but coming in, accepting the poor staff that’s there is a worry. It smacks of “yes-man” to me.
But tactically I believe Howe has the edge. The desire to win every game though? No.
Ange has no idea what it means to be Celtic.
Howe’s rejection came at the time when Peter Lawell’s house was set alight and the forces of darkness were rampaging through George Square. He’s a young man with I guess a young family. No brainier not to come.
Ange on the other hand is well able Australian and a bit older so, no worries mate. To think of him as weak over his retention of existing staff I think misses the point. He’s a strong and fair character giving incumbents a chance. If they don’t deliver they will be oot……

Couldn’t disagree with you more
Right back at you……
I hope you turn out to be right about Ange, but I have serious doubts.
Time will tell.
Ange is also one dimensional in his tactics.
But I hope you are right and I sincerely hope to be proven very wrong.
Take your point and it’s always unnerving when you hear that plan B is to do plan A better.
Personally I like a bit more pragmatism myself but I think this guy has the X factor.
I’m impressed he’s made such a positive start as I was of a mind that it would take a year to sort the sh** show he inherited.
