Celtic centre-back Carl Starfelt has every right to feel absolutely baffled by his PFA Scotland Team of the Year omission. The best XI was announced today by PFA, and, incredibly, John Souttar was included instead of the in-form Starfelt. There were places for the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josip Juranovic, Callum McGregor, Tom Rogic, Jota,…
Why because he’s overrated by a few well meaning bloggers with green tinted contact lenses ( from wish )
He’s improved on early Season performances granted but to suggest he is anything better than average at the moment is stretching it.
Yet again in Dingwall he gave away a foul outside out box going for a ball he had no chance of winning which ( push in the back outside the box) resulted in a free kick that then led to a sustained period of pressure put on a defence that up to that point had coped comfortably with everything.
If you think Starfelt playing the way he has this Season is up to the level required in the Champions League then you are in for a rude awakening next Summer should we be there.
Solid enough at Domestic level without being exceptional (and still making basis errors of judgment)this Season but still has flaws that at a higher level will be found out no danger.
If RossCounty bringing on several tall guys late on to go long and high gives you the fear at 1-0 just think what players from PSG or Madrid will do.
Rolling Starfelt in glitter doesn’t help or alter a thing.
We need better for Europe.
