Ryan Christie believes his father Charlie is getting unfair stick for his departure from Celtic, despite wanting him to stay at Parkhead. I see this differently, but like you don’t really know what went on between Ryan and Celtic. Clearly he deserved a big wage hike. We got him for a small sum and he went out on loan a couple of times so I’m sure he accepted his low wage status initially. But when he came back to Celtic and put in performances that everyone was raving about surely that was the time to tie him down with a new and improved deal. He saw many of his colleagues on better pay packets who were not offering as much as he was and rightfully felt he should get an improved deal. Why didn’t that happen? Presumably what Celtic was offering still wasn’t good enough. Celtic left it all a bit late, as usual. What transpired last season against European and domestic opposition and with the Covid 19 and no crowds situation it’s no surprise that the destinations of three of our previously top performers: Edouard, Christie and Ajer were Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Brentford respectively. And I’m not even sure where Ncham went, was it Swansea? Brentford have a future in the EPL as does I think Bournemouth. But if all of these players get a chance to impress whose to say they won’t get a transfer higher up the league - I’m sure that’s what they’re thinking.
