When Celtic arrived to face Ferencvaros in Hungary today, they did so with a curious Europa League away record. The Bhoys hadn’t failed to score on the road for two years [Daily Record]. Only three out of the last 10 away European games, though, in which Celtic have scored first, ended in Hoops victories. That…
What a night, Kyogo is priceless, Jota please god don’t him leave, Welsh and CCV different class. Ralston best FB in Europe, and big GG winning fouls and holding the play. Ange played it beautifully tonight. Brilliant Celtic
Angeball BABY!!!
Thought Bitton was impressive tonight too, Turnbull was everywhere and Calmac should have had a goal tonight
Ralston best player on the park! Long may it continue, hope Neymar was watching LOL
I haven’t enjoyed a performance as much as that for a long time, and to say it was away in Europe as well! Everyone put in a shift and three great goals. For me, the biggest improvement from the start of the season is how quickly the players press and win the ball back when they lose possession. The third goal comes from Turnbull fighting to get the ball back after he lost it. Even for their first the ball was lost but everyone got back into great positions very quickly and it’s only a freak defection that’s beaten the defence. Also, just watching the Jota interview while writing this and I think I’m in love with him.
Agreed mho chara, the fight in the team tonight was superb. Ange said it in Mic up training if you lose it you win it back. All.over the pitch Celtic fought for every ball and that was without Rogic too
I’m watching ACSOM the feel good factor is lovely
CCV and Jota must be signed, 2 fantastic players
Turnbull superb. Probably best game so far for him. We gave them their second though I think it was Mikey, trying to dribble out of trouble on the edge of our area.
A great victory for an attack minded Celtic which is so pleasing to see us look like a proper team trying to win in Europe rather than keep the opponents out.
As long as Ange sees the weaknesses and strives to improve the team and he get players when he wants then i think we are ahead of rebuilding schedule and thank god we have a player like Kyogo.
The only disappointment for me tonight was the slackness and lazy thinking of Mikey Johnston who some fans love because he does little tricks when he carelessly nearly spoiled a great team effort by needlessly given the ball away for the second goal.
If we strike now we could get both for £10m just think about that, two young potential superstars, for less than 10% of a Kane et al get it done Celtic.
What a fantastic performance. Ange’s green machine is moving through the gears.
Hamish, a wee word, if I may. A great Live Reaction talk as always last night, but can we skip talking Jota out the door when he’s just arrived? Our lovely unbiased media will be doing that for us soon enough but we don’t need to give them ideas.
It was people bumping their gums about Eduoard being ‘too good’ for Celtic that may have been partly responsible for him becoming the useless lump he was by the end. And now he is at Crystal Palace. So much for him being ‘elite level’. Jota is shaping up well, but let’s see where he is by the end of the season before we pronounce him a genius, and even if he is – have pride in our club! Henrik Larsson and John Hartson were happy to spend the best years of their career here. We do the club and our players no favours when we talk up the prospects of them leaving the instant they shine.
The boys were just awesome last night. It’s great to see us not cowering in our own half ‘waiting to get beat’ against teams like this.
Defensively the whole team was doing their bit, the midfield play was terrific at times, and the goals were magnificent. You could pick out every single player for praise so maybe best to pick out two unsung heroes. I thought young Welsh did brilliantly. Although Starfelt is coming on to a game, I would have no worries with Welsh having an extended run. Bitton was great. Ferencvaros didn’t expose his lack of pace but he helped himself too by not lunging into tackles and needlessly getting a card, he stayed on his feet. He has always been a fine player in possession, this is why Man City were interested in him back in the day, before they realised he has as much pace as a traffic bollard. He was able to take the ball on the half-turn from the defence. We really need that if we are playing the Ange way, you can’t just rely on McGregor to do it all the time.
Might want to rethink things a bit for Bayer Leverkusen – that is one seriously dangerous side. But it is great to go to away European venues now and play football like a team with great European traditions should.
