Celtic finally managed to overcome their away-day demons and secure a massive 2-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie. It wasn’t overly pretty, but Ange Postecoglou needed that result. A big win against one of the top sides in Scotland away from home. It’s the kind of standalone result that can really bolster the confidence as…
Amazed Montgomery lasted the 90, thought Rogic made the differences, Ajeti absent again. Kyogo chases everything, Jota a tad lucky not to get a red, Carter Vickers solid, seeing the bhoys go to the Aberdeen fans after we scored made me smile, overall a hard thought victory , very good game but we must build on this.
3pts ground out thanks to a bit of spark from Rogic working a way through their system.
Would have been nice to have scored a 2nd in the first half to calm things a bit, but again can’t complain at 3pts
Im amazed about Montgomery. He is very sloppy miss passes etc and being on the post is supposed to stop the ball going in. Before I get pelters who say hes only young and inexpeienced, hes not ready yet for 1st team Aberdeen noticed and switched their winger 2nd half agsinst him. Scales !! Not injured, not 18, just played in Europa 6ft plus why buy him and not play him
That game was a must win, time now to kick on,big time…HH:ireland:
The result is the most important 1-2
Late JOTA goal in front of his mum and dad brilliant …
Can’t believe Boyd’s commens for once he was spot on …
‘Not a great performance 2nd half but a win is the most imporant … ‘
Great to see Happy Tims in Aberdeen HH
That was a bit close for comfort but three points are three points, let’s hope we can get into a good run of results.
I thought as soon as their goal went in, “Scales is tall enough to head that out”. Thankfully we still got the win.
The same old answer Celtic managers come out with, = Not fit enough. Ange has said it too many times now. As for Monty he like Tony on the right should be finding this easy for them, due to age and not played many first-team games b4 this season.
Moving McGregor forward into the advanced role and dropping Bitton in the deeper role did beef up the defensive side a bit but it was at a cost of denying the defence an out ball all through the game until McGregor was dropped back in there through Nir going off.
There are several ways around this issue as you can screen a player like McGregor behind two more defensive minded Midfielders ( or Midfielders who have a defensive aspect to their game like Bitton, Soro and McCarthy ) as Milan did with Pirlo for years or alternatively you can play one alongside him as a shield like we did with Brown with an attack minded Midfielder in front.
I don’t think it was working first half as our defence looked very uncomfortable moving it around at the back with no out ball to the Midfield.
McGregor was not having as big an impact on the game as a result.
No sooner had Bitton departed and Rogic came back in the defence had an out all and McGregor got the link up going and ultimately a grip on the midfield.
Aberdeen were dreadful and so were our two full backs, only our fouling and allowing them the free kicks and corners caused us problems as they were void of creativity in outfield play and only caused problems when attacking our full back areas or launching it in the box.
We had a very hard game on Thursday which took a lot out of the players so to get a winner was great.
Long overdue a victory away and lucky with substitutes as Jota got winner via Rogic but why oh why did we go down to 10 men brining on Anjeti
Time to Learn Bitton and Starfelt how and when to tackle with out fouling instead of running over ladders n hurdles at training.
Yeah, we are still so bad at set pieces, it’s disturbing to fear every single crossed ball into your box.
Brother Madden tried to do his bit bless his wee soul, I think we had twice the amount of possession they had (or close to it) yet somehow we conceded twice as many free kicks as they did, something about that doesn’t add up, unless you’re using lodge logic.
The lodges are obviously open again after covid judging by the standards this season and Super help being offered weekly to their team. penalties for and missed against, players not sent off while opponents go in a flash of a red (hand) in mean card. off side goals and dodgy performances when doing our games.
Strangely not getting very much help or support in European games says it all.
Spot on are you free to take over
