Enough is enough: for Celtic to make any progress Neil Lennon has to go

Celtic need to jettison Neil Lennon if the club are to go anywhere fast. For me, that’s the sad truth of it. I take zero pleasure in saying it. I’ve defended Lennon before, against the endless sectarian abuse, the unfair reputation he has. But I watched that Livingston game, like you. And the whole time,…

Nothing more needs to be said really…but I still think he’ll be in charge for Hamilton next week

Lenny is a legend. It’s at the stage when he needs to be told to resign rather than be sacked. We all love him dearly but its time to go. Importantly lets not get landed with the English Lennon . Eddie Howe. A legend at Bournemouth. Loves to attack. Does not believe in defense. Stuck to his principles when all around were saying change your tactics. Got relegated. He will prove to be out of his depth in Europe if he uses those schoolboy tactics. By the way, Barkas had no chance with the goals tonight. Duffy played ok. Its the bloody tactics. Give it to Roy

I think Keane can’t understand why his players aren’t as good as he is and it makes him a poor manager.

Definitely not a Roy Keane fan. I think he’s as similar as it gets to Neil Lennon.

Agreed, I think we need a completely new approach new season

You have a point about Roy Kean having a problem with players not as good as he is. However i think that was in the past and he has learnt well particularly from Trapatoni ( hope that’s how you spell it ). He knows how to defend. not like Lenny and Eddie Howe. He understands how to play in Europe. He wants the job i would say. he is a real supporter. The players would respect and play for him. If they didn’t they would have to go. Which i believe should have happened earlier this season…

my 56 years watching supporting Celtic, This is the first time i have witnessed self destruction of a football team …MY TEAM
Not going to sit and say its about not winning… Been through similar times when the Great Tommy Burns was in Charge…But the team played as a team there was a cohesion, they played great football
Not going to sit and say its about a Signing policy…remember Raphael Schidt .Duffy is as bad ,and is costing us games, money and respect

For me my biggest gripe is a manager in the mould of Martin O’Neil .moulded by Martin O’Neil with no plan B …all looks great when plan A,is getting results… but a manager who can not change things around, during a game
Neil has cost us dearly with his Naivety and loyalty to certain players… Could count on 1 hand the number of creative forward passes Scot Brown has completed …an embarrassment ,a has been…
we have defenders who cant defend… what is John Kennedy doing…
midfielders who can not create
strikers who can not score
these are watched in training and picked by the manager to start games

We need forward thinking Football team … Board ,Manager ,Scouts, Coaching and players wanting to make a name for themselves …

Roy K.Hope Not
Not a manager ,a bully who could not motivate players
need a modern approach ,forward thinker…European , perhaps a Dutch Coach …remember Wim

Well said and welcome to the forum!

the word Legend is used too often , and Neil as a manager will never be one
handed a treble ,treble winning squad… and continued along the same road
oblivious to what was going on around him. The forward thinking at the other end of Glasgow
his loyalty to Scott Brown …( a legend of a player, sadly 3 years past his best)
Brendan saw all this in front of himself DEFO forward thinking by him … get out of the sinking ship while it is still afloat., he understood the boards mentality ,which has turned US into a feeder club for the Premiership.
We need a young ,European Manager perhaps A Dutch Coach ,and start rebuilding Now , Before the other mob are looking at 10

Hi Chris, some good points.
I however believe ,for us to be great again , a force in Europe we need to Shed 1 thing
… A supporter , playing for his boyhood team, A Manager who wants to manage his boyhood team, Ex players being put in the frame…
We need a vision …a new vision … not dreams of the past …which would come from supporters

hail hail

Hi Euan

want to comment on 1 part of a very well constructed post
“Lennon and the club made a scapegoat of Boli Bolingoli. He broke the rules, yes. But when Aberdeen or Rangers players did it, did they receive the treatment our left-back got? It’s hard to argue that they did.”

  1. Boli was a deceitful player ,being underhanded in trying to get a new club.he left the country ,returned and deliberately breached guidelines ,no thought for his fellow players or club… Deservedly he was punted
2.Let us focus on US , no one else’s team ,how they are handled or how they handle situations ,stop the paranoia ,stop inciting this divide…Who cares
you are using this to dilute our current situation Covid Aberdeen Rangers Sturgeon , have not impacted on how we play ,how we are managed and will have no say in how we will get out of this mess

keep up the great work
Hail Hail

I’d let Lennon stay until the end of the season (when we mathematically cannot win the league) otherwise the new boss will feel half responsible for not turning it around.
Then give the job to Henrik who can sign Jordan as Eddie’s replacement and get the fans excited again.
