Former Celtic scout David Moss reckons English clubs will be taking note of Jota and his barnstorming spell in Glasgow. Jota has contributed directly to 12 goals in just 15 appearances since arriving on loan from Benfica. I don’t understand how we could be “gazumped” by another club regarding Jota. Don’t we just pay the £ and he signs? Or is there some way he can decide not to sign?

I think he can decline to sign if he so chooses, for instance he could turn around & demand double what we’re willing or able to pay, citing a better offer from another club. At least that’s the understanding I have, could be completely wrong, there may be back stops in place to prevent that but I’m sure his agent would’ve included a wriggle out clause somewhere in the loan to buy agreement.
Hopefully he falls head over heels for the club the way the support has with him, maybe the lure of playing with his wee mate Kyogo, & the prospect of them shining together might convince him it’s best for his development & brand to stay for a couple of seasons before moving on.

Makes sense that he would have have to agree personal terms.

He’s a nailed on starter here and should get European football as well. He absolutely will get a big offer soon if we do sign him.

It would benefit him & us to play a couple of seasons in Scotland, get some big numbers under his belt, European nights etc…
I feel quite confident he’ll see the upsides of a couple of years at Celtic, if we win the league & get CL next year I think that’d seal the deal for him. He’s got plenty of time to go rule the world with a Liverpool or Barca
