Former Celtic star Shaun Maloney is ‘under serious consideration’ to become manager of Aberdeen, The Daily Record has reported over the weekend. The Dons are on the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with Derek McInnes. Speculation surrounding the vacant position has held interest for Celtic supporters in recent days with Scott Brown…
I do believe Shaun Maloney would be a great appointment he has been assistant at the top end of the game under the Belgian FA and Martinez for 4 years. Now is the time for fresh, new ideas and a restructure at the club. He knows how the game should be played. Whoever gets the the job would be a risk, as I say, he has been at the top of international level for years.
I really want Shaun Maloney to get the Aberdeen job, purely from a selfish point of view. If he gets Aberdeen playing successful, attractive football then he’d surely put himself in the shop window for us in years to come.
I’m really taken with him. I like the way he talks about football, I think he already has excellent experience and he wants to imitate the Lisbon Lions’ style of play.
Euan, I agree someway with your point and if he is successful, with the squad that they have then Celtic will have waited for two years or more? when we need to start rebuilding and restructuring now, he has the experience with top internationals and truthfully, who saw Martinez being an amazing coach? Maloney was/is part of the Martinez turnaround. Something tells me he wants the Celtic job, and would take it in a heartbeat. Whereas we wait… and wait again!
