Celtic winger James Forrest is nearing his return to fitness, but he could have a fight to win back his place in the team. Before the Motherwell win, Ange Postecoglou said he’s working hard, and needs a good two or three weeks to get match-ready [Daily Record]. That’s not long at all. Given how much…
For me Forrest fully fit is our 1st choice right winger/forward, and he goes straight into the team. I’m genuinely excited about Kyogo and Forrest playing together. Abada has been great but he’s still quite young and it will do him the world of good to have to fight for his place. By the looks of his character so far he will also up his game for the challenge. If you add Dembele into that mix and it’s difficult not to get giddy thinking about how good we could be in the attacking third.
A fit and ready to go James Forrest will always be first pick for me, Abada started the season well but has gone off the boil recently pace and movement plus maybe GG for physical presence and goals to give Kyogo more space to score more, aka Larsson and Sutton/ Hartson. HH
And Mikey if he can stay strong & fit (looked like he had put on a couple of lean kilos yesterday). When this all starts slotting into place we are going to murder teams, I’m salivating.
Absolute nonsense ! James Forrest will always be first pick ahead of Abada . I know he’s only 19 but he has a hell of a lot to learn & ain’t no experienced seasoned pro with a wining mentality both domestically & in Europe with a vast collection of medals to display. If Mikey Johnston was fully fit , he would be playing down the left & Jota on the right , Abada would already be dropped to the bench .
Now that Forrest is coming back its a no brainer , Abada drops to the bench . I’m sorry but he’s too weak & predictable , SPL players already have him sussed & he’s being increasingly ineffective as the weeks go by . He can’t protect the ball while in possession & gets brushed off too easily and I can’t remember the last time he actually got passed a player & delivered a good crossover, its wasteful he has a lot to learn & the first thing he needs to work on is his physical frailties.
I think the headline should be is ’ How much game time is Mikey Johnston going to get with Jota being the outstanding player in his position right now " and with Mikey breathing down Jota’s neck for a starting slot then its only going to make Jota better ! Hail ! Hail !
