Jeremie Frimpong has stated that he’s told his Bayer Leverkusen teammates to expect a “crazy” environment at Celtic Park on Thursday night. The Dutch right-back is set to face off against his former club on matchday 2 of the Europa League group stages. Celtic will welcome the Bundesliga giants tomorrow night in what will be…
It’s good to see the knowledgeable Derek Rae talking about German football. He’s an excellent commentator as well. I think we’re really up against it tonight and we might get a drubbing. I hope I’m wrong but we’re down to the bare bones squad wise and it’s why we’re picking up so many injuries in my opinion. This board has a lot to answer for and Ange is working with his hands and feet tied behind his back. I can’t remember a Celtic side so thin on the ground than this one. If Ange is to achieve anything during his tenure then he deserves better than what he’s currently being afforded. He’s expected to compete on all fronts but the lateness of his appointment and the slowness in completing transfers has made his job so much more difficult, add to that the injury crisis and it’s little wonder results have been poor. If we get anywhere near qualifying for the knockout stages I’ll be astounded. No Celtic manager should have to operate under the conditions Ange finds himself in it’s gross negligence from an inept board. I expect things to get much worse before it gets better. I feel sorry for the manager as he’s a breath of fresh air and he’s always honest with the support but he’s been let down badly by this board of clowns. If Dermot Desmond wants success then he needs to get the finger out and help Ange put a decent product on the park. There’s no point having a decent bottom line at the expense of the playing side. I know some of our support are saying Ange is under pressure but they need to get a reality check and look what he inherited. The club is a shambles and that’s not Ange’s fault we’ve regressed so much since Rodgers left and that’s squarely on the board’s shoulders. I’ve been watching Celtic since 1965 and this is as bad as we were in the Kelly’s era. I’m disgusted at the state we’re in and even when we get the injured players back it’s still a paper thin squad if we finish in either of the top two positions in the Europa league or the Premiership it’ll be a miracle.
