You’d have been forgiven for thinking that hiring Ange Postecoglou for Celtic was a Dom McKay enterprise. After all, McKay essentially said as much when the pair were unveiled to the media together [67 Hail Hail/YouTube]. McKay was beaming with pride at “his man”, stolen away from Yokohama F Marinos in the J League. Except…
Dom McKay did exactly what he was brought in to do.
He put the fires out around the board whilst buttering up and selling ST’s to supporter’s.
Then having done so slipped back out the exit to carry on doing whatever it is he does in the world of Rugby.
Mission accomplished Dermot a happy camper
Dermot openly stated he was going to be more hands on in transfer dealings after Peter Lawwell left the building and within a very short space of time both Hart and McCarthy were signed.
That’s not a coincidence these are high wage signings.
Anyone who thinks McKay was behind those deals has not been paying attention.
He was never the long term solution, just a stop gap to carry out those two key tasks (fire fighting and ST’s) before the arrival of Postecoglou.
Think Winston Wolf the clean up guy.
