Pundit Michael Stewart has been left bemused by the tactics and selections of Scotland manager Steve Clarke, believing he is misusing Celtic talents. Scotland lost their latest World Cup qualifier against Denmark earlier this week and are in a precarious position heading into matches against Moldova and Austria. Anything less than six points will leave…
The guy loves his defensive football unfortunately HH.
He was a defender so he plays defensive football. He’s worked under some great manager’s in his time so you’d think he could adapt. Maybe he doesn’t think we’ve got to the players to play attacking expansive football but I’ve never believed that there’s good players in Scotland’s squad. The SFA and SPFL are killing our game by believing that we need the Rangers and pandering to their every whim. The two organisations are corrupt and need cleaned out from top to bottom in my opinion or we’ll still be a footballing backwater in 2121.
Stewart has it spot on as usual.
Clarke has a very negative approach to games in my opinion and sees himself as a poor mans José Mourinho.
You have to work with what you have and if you are struggling to field quality International level strikers up top then you really have to play quality attacking International level players in the midfield as and when you have them available.
He seems to try setup from the back line using the wingbacks as his main method of attack.
Meanwhile we have a fair few attack minded Midfielders already half way up the Park who are seldom let of the leash to go push for goals.
Perhaps we should simply play all our home games at Livingston and go long ball like at Killie under him?
Dykes is average at best at this level.
