Michael Stewart has lauded the “phenomenal” Celtic improvement under Ange Postecoglou this season as he shrugged off Robbie Neilson’s refereeing complaints. The Hearts manager has again come out of a game against Celtic moaning about the refereeing performance. Giorgos Giakoumakis’ goal last night looked like it could’ve been a fraction offside. But Hearts striker Liam…
One criticism I would make about Stewart’s comments was regarding the penalty and Nir Bittons involvement.
He rightly points out Bitton should have been booked by the letter of the Law (but also thinks the first booking Nir received wasn’t a bookable offence) but also states there was a “wee push” on Bitton which I turn forces him to raise his hands🤷🏻♂️
Well if we are going to stick to the letter of the law then that “wee push on Bittons back” should have been flagged up for a foul because one directly impacted the other.
No push (free kick) no raised hand and no contact with the ball.
You can’t have it both ways Michael and if you are going to highlight a push then surely that takes precedence in the change of events that led to the ref blowing for a spot kick
A correct decision by VAR would have us down as 1-0 winners on the night I believe possibly 2-0 as the Giakoumakis goal was very tight and open to personal opinion.
The Boyce goal was not marginal however.
Clearly offside and good defending by Carter Vickers .
