Nir Bitton brushes off Celtic testimonial question

Originally published at: Nir Bitton brushes off Celtic testimonial question

Nir Bitton has dismissed talk of a potential future Celtic testimonial as he classily stated that he’s just grateful for how long he’s been at the club. Bitton is one of if not the most successful player in the Celtic dressing room. The Israeli has won 13 trophies at Parkhead and has shown how useful…

Nir is a good squad utility player and every Club who plays as many games as we do needs players like him.
Players who can drop in and out of a side in several positions without drama or unrest.
That aside …
I was looking for a suitable story to raise the issue of negative media spin at Celtic at the moment.
It is my belief that the media have had to wait all most a full decade in order to have a right good go at our Club with the toe cap boots on and the gloves off.
Sure there have been isolated incidents along the way in which they have had the odd wee fly kick at Celtic be that the Green Brigade,Griffiths,Rodgers leaving,The Bhoys Club issues etc etc but with the end of the push for 10 and the subsequent fallout in and around the Club from players wanting away to the ongoing spat between Lenny and Griffiths, the turmoil at boardroom level to the shambles that was the Eddie Howe debacle and subsequent parting of the ways between Dom Mackay and Desmond well there’s been plenty for them to sink the teeth and boot into.
Now we have a definite push to find former disgruntled players like Klimala who for whatever reason has been approached to find d out his thoughts on what was a terrible Season and ultimately his role as a peripheral player in it?
It seems to me they are constantly digging for anything that is a negative around Celtic in an effort to keep us down whilst we are down :man_shrugging:t2:
Meanwhile over the river everything and everyone is hunky dory of course.
Except that is for the Annual Accounts due out very soon.*
Call me paranoid if you wish but I just thought it was time this was highlighted again as I feel there is a definite push to push the negative at Celtic from within MSM circles.
It wouldn’t have anything to do with Celtic perhaps showing signs of being a potential threat to “Rangers Domination “ surely?
After all there is a potential £30m Financial enema waiting for the winner this Season.
Be interested to know your thoughts on that ?

  • Or Train Wreck as they are normally known by in financial circles.

Oh the blue nosed press members have definitely been salivating at a chance to slag Celtic off for on field reasons rather than off field, that’s a constant though & will always be part of the balance in Scottish football. It means that Celtic as a club need to strive to be that extra step above everyone else, they shouldn’t have to but if the players, coaches & administrators use it as a motivator to be next level at everything they do then it’s turning a negative into a positive, which is the best way to shove up the bluebells.

On the subject of Klimala, I had time for Polish Paddy before these articles & quotes in the last week or two, had being the operative word, it’s gotten pretty stale fairly quickly, he seems all too eager to put the boot in & it’s coming across quite bitter.
It didn’t work out the way he obviously felt it would, he might be genuinely aggrieved & hurt by not cracking the squad when he felt he should’ve, or he feels he might not have been treated fairly by the manager/coaching staff, or maybe it’s a simple as there’s a few quid in it for him to air his laundry to whichever journalist/interviewer it is that’s publishing this pish. Regardless of any of that his performances were never quite up to the level required by the manager at the time, nothing simpler in football than that really.

As far as Nir goes, I know he’s not a red hot favorite with a large portion of the fan base but I like him, while he’s a bit too brash at times (bit of an understatement I know) he is quite versatile & comfortable on the ball, he’s had more good performances than he receives credit for I think, he certainly has a very impressive collection of winners medals.
