The presence of Gordon Strachan was no help in securing Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths, says Dundee boss James McPake. McPake, Griffiths’ former captain at Hibernian, was eager to take the striker on loan from Parkhead. Despite Gordon Strachan’s involvement at both clubs, to differing degrees, there was little the ex-Scotland and Celtic boss could do…
Re the ongoing negotiations and Dundees budgets are Celtic still paying some of Leigh
s wages?
He took a wage drop when his contract was extended so my guess is without that drop Dundee would never have got him.
His time at Celtic is most likely over now but in Football you can never say never as injuries and or suspensions can alter things as much as form can.
Him being out on Loan getting game time and most probably goals means we also have a plan C if anything was to go happen to Kyogo or Giakoumakis in the games leading up to January.
Whilst we hope this won’t be the case I’m fairly certain Ange and those running Celtic will have had this in the back of their mind when deciding on what to do regards Griffiths.
Supporters can be very fickle as we know when it comes to players and a few goals can often change opinions on players.
He’s a mug who never took the multiple chances he was afforded by Celtic in the past few years and of course then left himself wide open after his Social Media shenanigans.
