Paul Lambert raises concerns about Dom McKay Celtic exit

Former Celtic captain Paul Lambert reckons the club are going to have to hit the restart button again after CEO Dom McKay left his post. Yes, that’s right, if you missed earlier’s huge announcement, Peter Lawwell’s successor has already left the club just over two months into the role. It’s been a massive shock to…

Re the DOF does it now transpire weve had one all along, Michael Nicholson Director of Football Affairs since 2019? Whats going on?

What a load of gash? @john.mcginley. Who is in charge of the team the CEO or the manager?

Dominic was doing quite a good job. They have done ok in the European games, they lost the other week to Rangers, but now they are going to have to restart.

“That’s the big issue that arises from that. I met him a couple of times and thought he came across really well. He was a well-spoken guy and he had the club at heart. He wanted the club to do well.

“There is always going to be a transition period when a lot of players left, a new manager coming in and a new chief executive coming in, and Peter stepping down. They seemed to weather the storm after the shaky start they had.

“They had a lot of plaudits for the way they were playing, but if they don’t win games all the board room stuff will start to come out.”

So because we lost to the huns we lose our CEO? What rubbish. What’s next we lose to Livingstone and a few youth players get sacked? Nothing to do with them whatsoever? What is this board room stuff? I thought it was the huns that had these problems, not us WTF. Are we the diddy team at castle Greyskull, or the great Glasgow Celtic FC?

Cut N Paste works fine TI EH

This article is a load of codswallop. Better to get the answers to a few more pertinent questions eg:-
Is it telling that Bankier goes out of his way to say that the new interim CEO is “a team player” so, by implication, was McKay his own man & wasn’t prepared just to toe the line?
What has Desmond’s role been in this debacle & even more concerning would be what, if any, influence Lawwell still exerts or what role he still plays at the club in his ‘non-executive’ position?

The Celtic Star has an article on Barry Ferguson’s thoughts. You might want to consider that Dom might have found the pressure too much and thought it wasn’t worth it.

I would imagine this would be the most likely scenario.
While running the national rugby team is a pretty full on role it’s nothing compared to running a football club like Celtic, that’s got to be one of the highest pressure roles in Scottish sport.

It was meant to, reference the story. I can’t tell the difference most times who’s writing, interviewed story
or the interviewee? Don’t worry HH. Know what’s wrong with me, thanks. When I aim it to anyone else I do like you and everyone else.

Can’t believe anyone on here thinks Dom couldn’t take the pressure. He’s obviously an intelligent man who wouldn’t walk blind into anything and he was a Celtic supporter so he must have known to a large extent how different it would be from the rugby job he previously had. Unless there is a serious illness in the family the most obvious scenario is that he felt he had been lied to by the board, he didn’t have as free a hand as he expected, there was interference. He knew sooner or later it would come to a head. To save himself a lot of heartache and send the club a message he left at very short, if any, notice. There is something toxic going on at boardroom level.

Re boardroom shenanigans what on earth is going on? If it is genuinely “personal reasons” then sympathy to Dom. Otherwise the chairman ultimately carries the can although I suspect a certain moustachioed gentleman is behind things.
