Celtic fans of a newer vintage have been told countless tales about the doldrums of the 90s. The internal politics, “the rebels have won”, Fergus McCann saving the club from bankruptcy (Daily Record); these are all important elements of Celtic’s modern history. For all the strife in the early 90s, Celtic now have a world-class…
I have been going to watch celtic since the early 80’s. From champagne Charlie, the double in our centenary year, losing to Aberdeen in epic penalty shootout cup final 90, the Brady and macari years of 3rd rate players to the changing of the old regime in 94. During those years Celtic operated from a biscuit tin (sometimes full of cash sometimes empty) there was good and bad times but since Fergus mc Cann took over thanks to the fans celtic are a very wealthy club and one of the very few who pay shareholders a dividend most years. Celtic fans don’t expect to win every trophy all we want is a team that gives us fans entertaining football and 100% effort. We want a quality manager and coaching team (BR improved our players when he came in ) and our current managerial team has wrecked that progress with the help of PL interfering in transfers and team matters. As celtic fans we dont expect us to compete with top teams in the richest leagues but we expect to be competitive and not embarassed with teams who have lesser budgets than ourselves. We as Celtic fans deserve better than what PL is giving.
