Scotland boss Steve Clarke will surprisingly announce Callum McGregor in today’s squad despite the midfielder’s injury woes, according to the Scottish Sun. McGregor has missed the Hoops’ last four matches through injury. This comes after picking up a hamstring complaint. The Sun reports that Ange Postecoglou rates him as doubtful for our next two games…

I’m sure that clubs are allowed to block players from going on international duty without reason, but in turn the national team can block them from playing with their club for 5 days after the said game. Was recently exercised in the EPL after some clubs blocked players from going to Brazil, Chile & Argentina, as they preferred a 5 day suspension to a 10-14 days in isolation upon their return to the UK.

Personally & probably selfishly I would rather he didn’t go as we have enough players on the medics table and wouldn’t want to risk a reoccurrence, but the decision would be for CalMac & the club to make.
