Celtic and the rest of the Scottish Premiership are set to vote on VAR in February, in a season full of controversial refereeing decisions. According to the Daily Mail, top-flight clubs have been offered a monumental February vote. Clubs in the lower reaches of the SPFL will have VAR paid for by Premiership outfits, in…
For me the quicker VAR comes in the better for everyone, there are too many dodgy decisions being made.
No VAR for me, it ruins the game. Plus it’s the same baffoons making these terrible decisions now that will be sitting behind the screens then. We need professional refs so I’d rather pump money into their education than into technology. It’s way more sustainable.
I would agree with professional refs, but how do you “Educate” refs like John Beaton?
What happens when you perform like that in any other walk of life? You get the sack. In a more professional environment, there would be more jeopardy involved for those performing badly.
Why would any sane Celtic fan not want VAR in this corrupt league.
This is not about ref competence, in the main they know exactly what they are doing.
VAR is not perfect but will stop the major silly stuff like the recent Rangers pen vs Aberdeen.
If it’s a question of funds perhaps Celtic fans could crowd fund it.
VAR is the last thing Rangers want….
So……bring it on….
It would be interesting to see how the Huns vote, but that Information probably won’t be disclosed!
Some dafties will think they aren’t favoured. The ones with any brains will be worried about VAR.
It won’t stop all the “errors” but will drastically reduce the impact of the men in the black
You’re right about it not being about incompetent refs in Scotland, it’s about unscrupulous fans with whistles. If these same refs were officiating elsewhere I’m sure they’d do a great job. Not sure how many opportunities Scottish refs are getting with UEFA and FIFA at the moment, it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re a laughing stock with the nonsense that goes on up here. The worry is that decisions will still go the wrong way if it’s not used properly or it’s used by the wrong people. Enough money needs to be put into it so that there can be enough camera angles to see all incidences properly. The pen at Ibrokes on Wednesday would’ve still stood as they could’ve said that there was not enough evidence to over turn the on field decision from the replays.
