Simple question to AP

Id love to understand just what AP thought brining on Ajeti would do for the team.

Angeball is predicated on a high press continuous movement and pressure game. In order to do that, you need players who are physically up to the task as it is NOT an easy style of football. Towards the end of the game the players started to tire. Here is the dilemma, do you continue to instruct your players to play this brand of football in the hope that the 2-1 lead would be maintained knowing full well they were all starting to tire and you risk conceding a goal, or do you bring on fresh legs for the final 15 mins to continue to play this brand of football and help close out the game. He opted for the latter and the result was there for all to see.

What this highlights is that the squad lacks depth. He knows that, expect to see more changes in the January window. Ajeti will be a casualty, I also expect to see Aaron Mooy to come in to plug the midfield gap and to give extra depth in midlfeld and another defender at left back.

You are all in for a wild ride !!!

To be fair Ajeti tried to press, you could see him getting frustrated with Mikey & Abada for not pressing & leaving him up high on his own & the inevitable gaps it left in behind him. Of the 4 subs brought on I actually think Ajeti worked the hardest & stuck to the game plan the best.

Does this mean the other 3 werent up to the task or havent bought into the Ange style of play? Either way I still believer the squad lacks depth

One other thing, Ange has rebuilt the squad and brought in new players and yet the squad still lacks depth and has to bring in more players

Under these circumstances it is hard not to conclude that the team must’ve been a basket case to begin with. From this distance (Aust) it looks as though Ange inherited a s*%t sandwich!!!

He is the perfect man to make it right …he did it before …here in Melbourne and in Japan. He also coached at the World Cup where Australian took on Holland after the Dutch had beaten Spain 5-1. Rather than be intimidated, he told his players to play an attacking game which no-one expected us to win. We went down 3-2 after equalizing at 2-2 In short we ‘smacked them over the nose with a newspaper’ and gave them something to think about.

That’s the Ange style, get used to it!!

The squad is paper thin, if we lose Rogic, McGregor or Turnbull for any extended period of time we’re in strife. With Tom out now we’re papering over cracks.

He has come in at a less than opportune time, on the player side of things he appears to be being backed, so far.
I’m in NZ myself & have seen Postecoglou’s success at this end of the world, I fully back him to build something special.

I get this squad is thin to some extent but we have Giakumakis, or is he injured? My question is what has Ajeti got? I have seen nothing at all thank you all for your replies especially from Australia and NZ fingers crossed Ange comes good

Giokoumakis is injured, out with a dodgy knee. Ajeti has delivered very little competitively. It looked like he might breakthrough in pre season, he had dropped weight, looked a lot fitter & got plenty of run time but he never kicked on & that was before we had Kyogo or Giokoumakis at the club.
