Celtic need a fresh approach, and are “drunk on domestic success”, according to the constantly reliable Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports. A noted Celtic supporter himself, Joseph is always quick to Bhoys-related stories, particularly transfer-wise. The former Sun reporter has made a name for himself in broadcast media. He’s never been shy of offering an…

The Sn FFS. We should do what our cousins in Liverpool do and have a total eclipse. Don’t care what he’s writing about. Ban the Sn

Its obvious that some kind of change is needed however I`m not convinced that a Director of Football presumably on a seven figure salary is the answer. Celtic have tried it twice and it never really worked. What does a DOF do? Negotiate transfers with the clubs and players? Negotiate contract renewals? Who decides which players to buy/retain? Is it a job for a finance or a football person? Who decides the budgets etc? Perhaps the problem is a bit deeper than just creating a new job with the beginning of a new cycle in Scottish football.

DOF’S eventually fall out with head coaches. Celtic have had a DOF ( or is it CEO) for well on 17 years now. What the club needs is a top class management team (head coach and assistants) whose remit is solely team matters (celtic scouts feed them list of targets) and the head coach chooses (not the CEO) the players he wants. The CEO’s remit should be negotiating players contracts, commercial contracts and the daily operations at the club whilst keeping out of team matters. Keep it simple no need for too many chefs in the kitchen.

Yes I agree, but the head coach/manager should be able to pick who he wants in the dugout not told. Bring back Mjallby for a few months and see the team fly, might not win ten but would win all games.

Totally agree the head coach picks his own backroom staff TiMod but NL is toast and will be gone in summer if not earlier. I0IAR is gone Our big challenge is now to hold off Aberdeen for other CL place. I like plenty of our fans would not place money on that. No time like the present to start building for the future and going back to the past usually never works out. When it comes to employing future managers and coaches not having a celtic background should not be important.

Stepheneob1, he probably will be gone, unless they(huns) start losing a lot of games everything crossed. But I’m not with ex-players saying we should go for non too great managers from wherever.
