Strengthening In The Right Areas…

Well another window slams shut and Clubs can now concentrate on what they do have rather than what they might have or might lose?
January windows have traditionally been a turgid affair at Celtic and seldom if ever have we went into one with an aim to coming out of it much stronger than where we were going into it.
I think we have achieved it.
We’ve bolstered areas of the park which are going to prove key to success under Ange.
This high tempo high press football was always going to need strength in depth in the Midfield and Attack.
The arrivals of Ideguchi ,Hatate,O’Reily in Midfield coupled with the super quick Maeda up front have added both energy and quality in these key positions.
These are not bench warmers brought in to simply make up the numbers no these are targeted individuals who fit exactly into the environment Postecoglou has created at Celtic.
Celtic have not broke the bank this January but what they have done is spend well.
Meanwhile across the city we has seen a totally different approach to problem solving.
A big name coming with a big wage and ultimately a big medical history.
Aaron Ramsey is a coup for the Ayebrokes mob make no bones about it.
But is he what they really needed going into this window?
Now Van Bronkhorst might well have argued the injury to Hagi means he is what was needed but the results this Season by comparison to last might suggest their attentions should have been focused elsewhere as a Club?
They have built recent success on a solid defence that has seen them not only get success in the League last Season but also in Europe over the previous two under Gerrard.
Real backs to the wall stuff at times that seen them go from also rans to genuine competitors against much more fancied sides.
They conceded only 13 Goals in the league last season but after 23 games in the current season have already conceded 7 against Ross County.
Their GD has taken a hit to the tune of -23 a hit of 1 per game in real terms and their points tally a hit of -9.
Celtic on the other hand have attained 5 more points in as many games and improved our GD by +2.
That s a swing of 14 points and 25 Goals in favour of the good guys.
On top of that we have already put a Cup in the cabinet.
The momentum is definitely swung in our direction.
They could have had John Souttar in the door for a reported £600k last night but instead focussed on securing a young pole at RB and arguably the shock signing of the window in Ramsey.

I think time will tell this window was far more beneficial to Celtic in the run in.
As we see the arrival back in our squad of the likes of Jullien,McGregor,Rogic,Ideguchi,Furuhashi and Maeda we will only get stronger, quicker and more effective as a unit.
The fact they failed to strengthen their defence will prove to be their undoing I believe.
They have to win tomorrow night a loss would be a massive blow given our absences.

Couldn’t agree more with all of this. It goes to show how poorly ran that club is when they’ve focused on a marquee gamble player instead of paying to get Souttar in this window which is what they desperately needed.:rofl:

Tonight I’m just jubilant and proud of my team. Everyone a hero, first half reminded me of the 6-2 and 5-0 games. My Son and I in the Hoops tonight one in Germany and one in Glasgow celebrated together. Thank you Celtic and Ange. No more arguing please let’s just enjoy being top of the League.

Hail Hail.

Football without fans is nothing so it was great to see 3 derbies played with excited crowds and Rangers to get what they deserved for trying to cheat and make teams play in an empty stadium just because they are the empty stadium champions.
so it was brilliant to see them wilt and be battered in paradise.Hail Hail to football with fans.
