It would be interesting to see some sort of change to the points system. A no score draw - 1/2 point, score draw 1 point, home or away win 3 points, score up to 3 goals, extra 1/2 point, score 5 or more goals, extra 1 point, this would create a more open and attacking game and stop teams shutting up shop.
Teams will come to CP and attempt what Livi (secure a point) did now thinking it’s a better option than trying to win 3 points and get pumped.
Getting pumped does nothing for moral after all but a draw at Celtic?
That’s something to build on.
We need to adapt to this and start mixing it up in attack.
A start would be shooting from distance now and then or perhaps deploy 2 main strikers instead of one.
Deploying Forrest on the right as a makeshift Wingback could mean dropping the right back and going with a back 3.
This could facilitate both Kyogo and Giakoumakis going through the middle that way the winger has the option to cut it back or cross it in.
It’s not going to stop teams parking bus refs doing everything to break play slow game down I might be favouring celtic but advantage is there so teams can’t Benefit trying to stop players illegally but I don’t see it get use much in celtic case refs wanting free kicks taken games getting pulled back either foot away from where ref wants thats I your on half why give a foul offside when defending team has ball all things that seems to go against celtic
We really also need to be more “risky” in our attacks. Teams that play this style (in Scotland) will be unlikely to do damage on the counter.
I agree the painfully slow side to side stuff needs to get parked up when sides are camped in two banks on the edge of their box.
Unless they have a Usain Bolt level sprinter up front the likelihood of a quick counter is almost negligible.
There’s been several cases so far this season that players in our midfield have an opportunity to slide the ball between defenders for the likes of kyogo or and of the front 3 but we tend to be too scared to go for it as if they don’t want the pass % to dip too much, we have seen on a few occasions that those passes are a slightly higher risk but with that there is a significantly higher reward to go with it if we pull it off, players like Turnbull rogic and Mcgregor are plenty good enough to make the passes count. I hope to see them try it more in future, saves a lot of messing around, can play keep ball and do the side to side stuff when we are 3-0 up or need to slow it down and see out the rest of a tight game. All in all there have been alot of improvements and it’s lovely to watch, but still more to go and hopefully more to come
i think we need to be more risky in defence when we play these teams play wide full backs high up and no holding midfield player 2 strikers with 2 players central supporting them
its all about the final ball and speed it reaches players with timing into the box we have players who can do it but not varied our system enough.
i bet the few days before we played Livi we didnt do shape work on how to wall pass thru a defence like that.
we could not have as we only play with one target plus aimless crosses dont work from wide
