With so much build-up to this weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers at Hampden, you could be forgiven for forgetting the importance of tonight’s UCL games to Celtic. Many believe that Celtic will qualify directly for the Champions League group stages next season if they win the league. But that isn’t actually certain just yet.…

Does anyone know if the winner of the Europa League has been factored into this scenario if the winner does not qualify automatically for UCL from their league position?

I’ve been doing a little bit of digging to answer my own question here and it seems that we have the last automatic place in the group only because Russian teams have been banned and the winners of UCL and Europa are not included in that equation. That means not only do we need Villarreal to lose but we also need Barcelona to win the Europa to be sure of our place. Leipzig are currently in a UCL spot as well but only just. Please could someone tell me I’m wrong about this. :green_heart::green_heart::green_heart:

Please excuse my rambling. I’ve checked again and both the UCL place and the EL place are invited in the equation with Celtic currently sitting one place outside the automatic group spot meaning as long as one of either Barcelona winning the EL, Villarreal not winning the UCL, or Russian teams remaining banned then we’re in.

Sorry for my flapping if you’ve read any of these.
