With the latest update on Cameron Carter-Vickers’ situation, Celticmay now have to splash out an even more considerable sum to secure both him and Jota before the summer. The Daily Record reported last night that Spurs are now looking for £10m for the USA international. That’s despite the fact they were only reportedly eyeing up…
I think Jota is definitely a vital purchase. I agree £10M is not a figure we would pay to Levy for CCV. However, Levy’s hand might be forced, really depends on what his financial person says and what CCV’s agent says when they sit down for talks at some point. If he demands £10M, then we’re not going to pay that. CCV will be angry that he’s lost out on a move and will leave for nothing the following summer. So in theory, Levy either lowers his demands to £5.5M or less - or he loses a guaranteed £5M the next summer. Either he’s arrogant and stupid or arrogant but pragmatic
Levy has (allegedly!) had a reputation for hard bargaining for some time and of course will do what he thinks best for Tottenham always bearing in mind CCV will then be entering the final year of his contract…
It strikes me that loan deals with an option to buy are somewhat tenuous!
Whilst I appreciate the situation Ange faced with so many players leaving it is unfortunate that a “big” club like Celtic have become so dependent on signing players on loan…
