I was commenting exactly this a few weeks ago. Long may this much maligned defence keep improving. With Jullien on his way back and Welsh as extra back up, on top of the form of Ralston and Juranovic, and the addition of Scales, I think this could grow into one of the great Celtic defences. :crossed_fingers:t2::four_leaf_clover::green_heart:

thats against 2nd rate spl teams as soon as we come up against any decent opposition the defence is a shambles and the system is totally predictable as shown by the germans and spanish,in the second half when they changed the formation and tore us apart down the left.there needs to be a plan B for europe.

You’re right that it’s been against Scottish teams, not sure I’d call them 2nd rate, but our defence has been steadily improving in every game in my opinion. We also have a clean sheet against Ferencvaros who are a decent side. I think the home game against Betis is an opportunity for the defence to show it has improved further. Would a clean sheet against a good Spanish side help convince you that our defence maybe isn’t the shambles you say it is? :four_leaf_clover:

i would put ferencvaros on par with a mid table spl team and when was the last time any spl team ,apart from us and that other mob, progressed in europe over the last 20years,which is where the uefa and fifa rankings and money comes from.

Now you’re being quiet contradictory. You say they’re on par with a mid table Scottish Premiership team and that only Celtic and Sevco make it into Europe. Yet Ferencvaros were in the Champion’s League group stage last year, and they’re in the Europa league group stage this year. They are a team who are consistently qualifying for European group stage football, making them a decent side.
