Tom Rogic and David Turnbull both struggling to thrive in the same Celtic XI

The Celtic supporters have big concerns about the midfield situation at Parkhead – in particular the partnership between Tom Rogic and David Turnbull. Incredibly, both Turnbull and Rogic have played a part in all 16 of Ange Postecoglou’s competitive games in charge of the club. That means they’ve been on the pitch regularly in a…

We have to stick with the manager and support him. For God’s sake he’s only been here a few months. He is having problems with getting the players up to the fitness he requires. He came in too late and the Board of Directors are to blame for that. No one else. The blokes been given a real bad hand to play. A real bad hand. He’s cobbled a pretty useful team together if they all were fit. The thing that does bother me though is that Rogic and Turnbull can’t play in the same team. It leaves the defensive midfielder with too much to do. Both Tom and David are at times sublime players but they struggle with defending. With the system we play the two wider midfielders have to attack and defend. The wingers are also required to do this. It will take time. We are at least four, possibly five, short of our best team. Thursday night is going to be difficult. I believe the system needs to be tweaked a bit but above all we need the injured back and those not up to the required standard sold. He needs two seasons to sort out the mess at least. We have to understand this. Give it everything on Thursday bhoys

Completely agree on the sticking by the manager, Tom Rogic is not for Celtic anymore, he’s too slow. Last season it was three number tens and Ryan played left-wing, this it’s two and the two of them can’t play together up front. I thought James McCarthy was great in the holding role today, but no central midfielder was bad. Turnbull is only a central midfielder that’s it? He’s not a number ten, he was lucky last season but is being shown up this season. Tom can’t play the way he used to and hope the ball comes with him it doesn’t, and his passes to the United players, The County players, and The Livi players were poor. Take him or David out, and put in CalMac or Henderson with James McCarthy and bingo.

Well said. The players were not fit enough to start with and the hard training caused injuries.
