What's going on?

If It’s true, and I’m sorry to say, It certainly looks that way, Kyogo has signed for Rennes, Why was it done behind closed door and in total secrecy?
Why weren’t the fans informed beforehand about this move?
The answer to that question is the possible backlash from the fanbase.
I’n sure Kyogo didn’t just make up his mind to go at the last minute, this must have been in the offing for quite some time.
Perhaps deals have already been done to replace him? Perhaps Jota, and Tierney have already signed on the dotted line plus a striker? One thing for sure, we will know very soon.
Celtic should have been up front and honest with us regarding Kyogo!
Anyway, good luck to you Kyogo if you have signed for Rennes.
You will always be a Celt, and you will be sorely missed. :four_leaf_clover:

Should the reported £10million fee for Kyogo be received by us, I’d have to say it’s a good bit of business.

Considering we paid less than half the fee to get him in the first place and he’s now reaching somewhat a “veteran” stage of his career, I think it’s a smart sale.

In terms of the player we stand to lose though, I don’t think we’ll have a forward lay a glove on Kyogo’s level of quality for us. Unless we start stepping into the £15-20million fees for replacements, I personally feel it’ll be a long time before we see anyone lead our line as technically well as Kyogo.

I agree that getting such a huge sum for a 30-year-old was a great bit of business,
I also agree that he will be difficult to replace, that goes without question.
But the point I was making was about the secrecy of the move. BR has come out now and said that Kyogo wanted to move months ago.
regardless though, it would have been nice to have been kept up to date.

Perhaps the reason we’ve seen Kyogo’s form dip a bit of late was because he’d had these discussions internally?

Thinking if Rodgers had gone public 2 months before the transfer window opened it could have played even more on Kyogo’s mind not to mention giving opposing teams a slight psychological edge.

In all, I personally think, it’s been dealt with well. The task now is to get in a decent quality replacement in with the small amount of time we have left.

I’d like to see a full time signing being made rather than a lower end EPL or EFL Championship 3rd choice striker signed on loan for 6 months.

Now maybe Rodgers will fix our leaky defence by getting rid of KENNEDY and That other hanger-on Strachan and his laptop

I’m not sure if I agree with your points S50G.
Firstly, we have the best defensive record in the league.
Secondly, It’s Kennedy who takes most of the training sessions at Lennoxtown aided by Strachan.
Kennedy gets a lot of stick from sections of the support, but in my opinion, I’m not sure if it’s fair or justified, he has been a great servant for this club.
As has Craig Strachan in his scouting role at the club, OK there might have been a few duff signings along the way, but that happens at any club regardless of their size or stature.
Some players can be fantastic at one club but find it difficult at another for various reasons, that’s football for you, it happens.
Generally I think they both do a good job, if that wasn’t the case BR would be shot of them in an instant.

MBM 67 how about Kennedy defence now 4min and 2 down with tippy tappy around the back

2.2 the last time I looked.
