A gentle suggestion

Can I make a suggestion for this forum?

I came on to this fans forum to hear what the fans think. I enjoy your YouTube channel so I’d like to hear your views on things.

However, rather than your/our views, what seems to be happening is a lot of cutting and pasting articles from the SMSM, which I try to avoid along with an increasing amount of fans these days.

Let’s get more personal takes on what’s happening at our club please and far, far less from the redtop hacks who generally take delight in anything that helps drive an anti-Celtic agenda.

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback and I get where you are coming from.

There’s a few issues here we have to take into consideration:

  • the forum also serves as a comments section for the website so basically all of our articles will create a new thread on the forum

  • We try to find the right blend of articles for the website, which caters to a mass audience that is actually thirsty for what different people are saying about different Celtic topics. There can be a lot of what pundits are saying, though we always try to offer some opinion and personal takes on what has been said after their quotes.

  • We also create original opinion pieces - though certainly this is only a proportion of our total output.

  • A lot of sourcing has to be done from the wider media as Celtic currently don’t provide access for fansites beyond a token question at the regular press conferences. So if it’s something Neil Lennon has said, rather than ignore it because it was in the Record or the Sun, we will always want to communicate what he has said.

Ultimately it’s all a trade off between maintaining a Celtic website and YouTube channel that is not only commercially viable, but also serves people who are more invested in what we have to say as a collective.

I get that sometimes the balance can look a little off on certain days or around certain people, but we do think about it a lot. Also your comments are very welcome and do give us confidence to try more opinion as we go.

We will consider a way to siphon off articles to its own section of the forum, so there’s a more traditional discussion board for people to enjoy.

As it stands you might have to cherry pick what you are reading from us, or stick more closely to the YouTube channel which is always 100% original content.

Any other questions, happy to address.

Thanks again,

John
