Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has talked about the inspiration of Johan Cruyff, and how determined he is to play attacking football. A significant number of the fans, taken by his approach to the game, have supported him from day one. Others have been shrewdly waiting to see how the Greek-Aussie boss’ vision has manifest, in…
Anges’ way of playing IS the Celtic way of playing, and it’s what we all want to see, but just remember you cannot win every game you play in. You can dominate an opponent and still lose, but you can’t lose sight of the overall tactics just because you lose a couple of games. So please when we do lose a game or two don’t whinge about it, get behind the Bhoys and show them that we are fully supportive of their efforts.
Welcome to the forum, Paul.
Completely agree. There will be growing pains, but I think so many of us are buying what Postecoglou is selling so far.
Yes we are!! All in!
I’d rather we play the Celtic way and lose than sit two blocks of four and play what Lionel Messi called anti-football. We’re built on attacking football and although I was sceptical of Ange’s appointment as I’d never heard of him it’s now looking like a masterstroke by Dom McKay. Without getting carried away too early the Aussie certainly talked the talk and now we’re seeing the team walk the walk in his style. I’ve been totally impressed by what I’ve seen so far but the prizes aren’t handed out in August. It’s a good start and his signings are looking good too there’s a feelgood factor around the club after that shambolic last season and I’m genuinely excited by what I’m seeing. The bigger tests lie ahead but Ange’s philosophy is bringing a smile to the supporter’s faces and I love how the team’s playing and I can see us going from strength to strength.
I was intrigued by Ange as soon as I heard he was the man we were looking at for manager. I found & read as much as I could about him & the more I read the more convinced I was that this man would be a success.
I gave my opinion in posts about him here & I was slated. I was told that 70% of Celtic fans wanted Eddie Howe & anybody else would bring our club to its knees. Constant barrage of anti Ange from certain posters.
I know we’re only a handful of games in, but the transformation from last season to this is there for all to see. The change in players performance is pretty amazing. Christie is a revelation compared to last season. Greg Taylor has upped his game, & Anthony Ralston In spite of a lot of people seeing his name on the teamsheet & letting out a big groan, I am so happy for this Bhoy.
The impact Ange has had is incredible & it’s only just begun. What will this man do with our club given the support & backing of the board? So far it seems that they’re fully behind him, let’s hope that backing continues.
I wonder how those 70% who wanted Howe now feel about the new boss. I know it’s still early days, but the way things seem to be going, does Ange get your approval?
Good on you for doing a bit of homework & making an informed decision to back the man or at least give him a chance, being from AP’s neck of the woods I’d seen enough of his successes to be optimistic when he was brought to the club.
I’ve noticed 1 or 2 of those posters you referred to backtrack quite quickly recently, they’ll want you to forget the immature nastiness they dished out & forget the doom & gloom they predicted, it was based in ignorance, they feared what they didn’t know & lashed out at anyone who’d dare to suggest they give someone they hadn’t heard of a chance, I’m glad they’re getting on board, though no doubt they’ll be the first to slate the man again if/when we drop a couple of games or turn in a poor result or two, which realistically is likely to happen at some stage as we are rebuilding from the crumbled heap of a team we had last season, it won’t all be plain sailing.
Postecoglou is a builder, he builds successful football teams, has done so everywhere he’s gone, we will dominate this league under him & when he leaves (& he will, someone from the big money leagues will head hunt him eventually & he won’t be able to say no) he will leave us in a far better state than when he found us. In a year or two the anomaly that is The Rangers Football Club & their league success of last season will seem a distant memory, Slippy will have slunk off, they will be skint (they already are) & scrambling & we will be back where we belong, head & shoulders above them.
