Celtic defender Stephen Welsh has won plenty of plaudits this season. Despite his baptism of fire against Rangers, then following up with a start against A.C. Milan, Welsh has played with confidence. He’s assured on the ball, combative in the air, and doesn’t need theatrics in the tackle. Today, he was unquestionably Celtic’s Man of…
Welsh could be a good player for us, he’s reacted well to setbacks this season
We don’t have a shaky defence just a midfielder in defence who doesn’t know where to be, also better coaching for them in defence when it comes to dead ball we would be better. The rebuild is so desperate it’s unreal. One up and coming great defender and one very weak defender who’s injured at the minute. We need a keeper and at least three more central defenders. And keep the fullbacks we’ve loaned, well do good next season.
Forgot the two wingers as well, six new player at least. Or we could use our own wingers but one of them is leaving? If we get a new manager he’s gonna have a hell of a job, who would want that?
Fair play to the young lad Welsh, he has a great attitude and doesn’t wallow in self-pity when Lennon dumps him or throws him under the bus, he just gets on with it when called upon, he’s definitely making the most of his chances.
…and he`s an Academy graduate and a Celtic kid!..
John, I’ve just re-read this. I hope that backing isn’t the kiss of death for him.
what is john kennedy , doing
Neil should have flung him under the bus ages ago.

Defence coach, when Neil came back he told him of positional play fitness and mobile number for Brendan. Neil used all, as it was Brendan’s team to end of the season. John was even telling him during games who to swap etc. Up till two weeks ago, they were still doing the Rodgers training but not sure now.
Here’s the thing - Welsh is a solid option and looks like he has the potential to be a long-term Celtic centre-back. However, he’s young and he’ll make mistakes. One of the key issues I’ve got with Lennon’s management is the fact that if you’re not one of his favourites and you make errors, you’ll get papped out. If Welsh gives a ball straight to the opposition and it leads to a goal, expect him to be dropped again for Duffy. Whilst Brown can do the exact same against Motherwell and likely keep his spot for Wednesday. We need to back Welsh for him to be a success. It’s easy to do that when he’s powering headers home against Motherwell at Parkhead. It’s during the set-backs we have to stick by him as does the manager. Here’s hoping that proves to be the case between now and the end of the season.
I see @david.walton is itching to get back to work on Tuesday!
He simply cannot be tamed.
Here’s fingers and all crossed he stays on for the full season and next, and only gets better for us and not sold for the first dime big enough we get offered.
