In fairness, plenty of Celtic supporters like Lawwell and what he’s done for the club. I’m not necessarily one of them, and I think he’s got far too much credit for the work of the players, but there are still a decent number who rate the work he did.

He was successful at what he came in to do. That was to slash expenditure on football wages grow the club commercially to make it self sufficient and to create larger overseas revenues. In business terms he was a success for celtic. PL problem was he became too much involved in the football recruitment side (something all fans do on their playstation and manager competitions) but his expertise did not warrant. Most CEO are gone after 5/7 years in order to bring freshness and new ideas into the business so PL has been CEO far too long which probably brought hubris and arrogant attitudes towards the fans. I cant say I am sorry to see him go as I believe the club needed a new direction and leader. Onwards and upwards HH.

Over the piece he did a great job. It’s really unfortunate that the holy grail was missed. He needs to accept that he had a pivotal role in that.

He did a good job for the most part but stayed too long. Now it’s time for Celtic to look ahead to the future, a new era at the club.
