New Celtic signing Josip Juranovic will be available for Sunday’s Glasgow derby at Ibrox, manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed. Juranovic signed for the Hoops last weekend in a £2.5million move from Legia Warsaw. However, he isn’t able to make his debut against AZ Alkmaar tomorrow due to having already featured in the first leg of…
Easy to say now given his form so far this season, but truth be told i’ve always rated Ralston, but personally i think Juranovic must come in,he is much the better player,is match fit and his attacking qualities, namely his final delivery along with his tackling a step up on Ralston who undoubtably has been terrific so far,but there is no room for sentiment in football where decisions need to be made for whats best for the team. When in a race why drive your trusted Volvo when you have a Porsche in the garage?Ange will ultimtely make that decision and i have no doubts he will make the correct call in the end. If we pass tonight with flying colours, we should be keeping with the same squad. No matter how good Jo is, if Tony is playing as good as he has been it’ll be easy for him on Sunday. Do we also have to work out who is the better defending player as well?
From what we saw of Josip during the Euros he does seem a lot more positionally aware defensively (admittedly part of a well drilled & talented Croatian back line).
Ralston left a lot of spare space out wide against AZ last leg, they pumped it into their attacking left corner a couple of times & Ralston was noticeably caught out, we can’t have teams turning around our whole team around by simply punting it into a corner & winning the race to the ball, that’s Sunday league stuff.
My mind has gone blank but has there ever been a player that made their debut for Celtic in a Glasgow derby? @david.walton this would an interesting article to read
