Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir have announced the signing of Celtic left-back Boli Bolingoli on a one-year loan deal. The club have stated on their official website that the deal comes with an option to buy the player at the end of the agreement. Boli has been frozen out at Parkhead ever since he went on…
David, did Jonny Hayes want too much time on his contract as in years? I like many would love to know that one. Hayes was a great winger and a good left back, he wasn’t scared of anyone when back, and could find a team mate high or low into the box.
Hayes was an odd one. He was such a reliable figure for the club and Neil Lennon was always high in his praise for him.
Interestingly, Hayes only signed a new two-year deal with Aberdeen - so he wasn’t given much in the way of a long-term contract there. He also deferred his wages for a year too.
So I don’t think that the length of contract was the issue in all honesty mate. I genuinely believe that it was simply the case that the club was looking to improve in its options in that area. So far though there’s been no real strengthening in the area.
I think Lennon wanted to put more faith in Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli. Obviously nobody could’ve foreseen Boli’s actions, but it’ll be interesting to see who we sign to strengthen in the position in the coming weeks.
