Disillusion of Scottish press

I read with interest on some of the nationals, they are still living in the past. For a start the term “Old Firm” went out the window years ago, and if you are like me and i have 62 years there was never a description “Old Firm” they are clinging on to something that never was and invented by them, that is the press.

Secondly the media build it up to be one of the biggest games in the world. I tell you, it is big to us but ask someone from Spain, Argentina, Outer Mongolia wherever you will get a different response, they could not give two monkeys. No matter how much our media plays it up. Read the nationals south of the boarder Scottish sport hardly gets a mention and that’s our closest neighbours.

I absolutely agree with you LPATIM regarding the media calling it the “Old Firm”.
It is simply a Glasgow derby between two team that play in the same city.
Nothing more, nothing less.
But the interest worldwide in the Celtic v Rangers matches, and vice versa, is actually ginormous.
If you google the countries that put on the match, it’s quite staggering.
So I disagree with you regarding interest worldwide, sorry.
Other countries see it as the “Old firm” although we do not.
They regard it as a huge match and mouthwatering in its spectacle.
