Callum McGregor is seen by many as a future Celtic captain. It’s been talked about plenty over the last couple of years as Scott Brown’s incredible Bhoys career wound down. Now that it’s been confirmed that Brown is off to Aberdeen, the chatter has only increased. However, the way he lost his head at Ibrox…

I’ve heard something similar said of Paul McStay: absolute legend but the issue of the captaincy was too much.

I totally agree about his bad season, but everyone was saying last season how great it is Callum being the longest played player in the world. Ouch, that’s come back and taken its toll on him by the looks of it? He’s to me a good player but never a Captain, and for God’s sake please don’t use that as a carrot for Ajer. There’s no player in this team good enough to be team, or club Captain 4 me. Not even Leigh he’s never played

There was that story about Eddie Howe potentially bringing in his captain from Bournemouth. Steve Cook looks like a solid defender nearing 400 games for the club and maybe someone capable of replacing Scott Brown?

I’ve heard it too. Looks a leader but he’s 30. I don’t know enough about his style of play to determine if he’d be a long term solution.

Yeah his age could be a factor. He is not going to be a player we can develop and sell on but we maybe need a bit of experience in the team. With the departure of Brown it will be Griffiths at 30 as the oldest player at the club.

Really disappointed it didn’t work out with Shane Duffy

I don’t know much about Cook but I heard pace was an issue which would make me worry about the Duffy precedent.

he will need more than a new captain what a bout a keeper 2 full backs 3 centre backs 2 midfielders 2 wide players and 2 strikers
