We’ve said that there’s no point reading too much into friendlies when it comes to Celtic. That we haven’t necessarily found the next Messi, that the youngsters we saw beat Sheffield Wednesday aren’t going to be automatic picks next season. So on, and so forth. But one thing is absolutely glaringly obvious, and has been…
Baldock isn’t a long term fix, but if he comes in then he should be an improvement and will give us a couple of seasons to find the next Danny McGrain. Seems unlikely that any more exotic options will appear. As for Ralston, there’s a lot to like in his no nonsense approach, but tactically and mentally he has never progressed after coming through the ranks.
Maybe he is thinking of using osaze as our starting rb, the guy looks capable and I’d be happy to see him given a chance at first team level straight away, possibly look for someone else other than ralston though to challenge him and keep him on form
We defo need cover both sides of the field in terms of fullbacks.
The sad thing about Ralston is that if he was to play for any other team in our top division he’d be a stand out. The media would be lining him up for a transfer like young Doig of Hibs or Ali McCann of St. Johnstone.
The problem is that if you don’t standout above the competition at our club for a position, you have no chance to make it long term with Celtic.
Ralston tries his hardest and is very no nonsense at times but there are aspects of his games he could have been looking to work on and doesn’t look like he’s given it a go
