Former Celtic man Scott Allan escapes derby yellow card

Former Celtic midfielder Scott Allan escaped a derby day sending off after handling the ball like Ryan Christie. Allan had already been booked when he handed Hearts a penalty in the second half. The ex-Celt stupidly struck the ball with his hand while defending a corner. The decision comes two weeks after Christie was booked…

Is there anything in the new handball rules which state that an accidental handball is an automatic booking? Ryan Christie`s was obviously accidental so a penalty surely was sufficient punishment.
Then there was Hearts v Rangers when a Hearts player appeared to handball with both hands the ball into the net. He had already been booked and the Rangers players clustered round the referee demanding a yellow card and Gerrard gave the fourth official an earful,
Would referee consistency have given Rangers a path into the semi finals?(just joking)

I always thought if the ball played man it didn’t count for anything? So why did we get a pen on Sunday, and what happened to the Hearts player when the ball hit his arm from behind apart from the penalty?
