Impressive outcast, familiar woes: 3 things we learned as Celtic held by Midtjylland

So, this is pretty much exactly what we wanted from Celtic v FC Midtjylland. Drama, goals, shocks and entertaining football. Except, we just couldn’t get the win. This game had everything. From a tactical perspective, Celtic looked far better equipped for the demands of Ange Postecoglou’s system. Unfortunately, we were undone by a moment of…

I hoped Barkas would come good. Looks like I was wrong. He just keeps making basic errors. Keeper needed now. Then a left & right back. And two strikers. We’ll be fine then.

You say in your piece MAYBE we could blame Barkas. Of course he was to blame. The guy is a total did. We have 3 keepers and they’re all crap. We need a good one now.

As long as that p55k Kennedy has nowt to do with it, we might get Hazard in goals ASAP. Then a full-time great keeper not mentioned here, you know the Dundee United or Australian or another non-Celtic worthy keeper. One with bottle from the start, like Barkas out of here along with Pain. Ooop’s Bain. This week b4 Friday.

Postecoglou, however, kept his centre-backs wide, wide apart, with Taylor and Ralston underlapping behind Christie and (in the first half) Abada.

In defense of Barkas this system is going to be suited to him as a sort of sweeper keeper if you will. Looking forward to seeing more of it in action. I remain confident in Barkas as our number one going forward.

Delighted for Stephen Welsh and Dane Murray performing well in such a high profile match. :slightly_smiling_face:

Please i beg all Celtic fans to stop pretending Barkas will or has come good. He cannot continue as our goalkeeper as he is not good enough.
If he plays this season as number 1 every team in Scotland will play on him, his lack of presence or bravery will make our defence panic all season.
Bitton is another who must not get another chance as he is a liability in decision making and defending tonight he killed the match for us and his Israeli team mate who was having such a good debut.
Ralston and Taylor were dreadful in the second half there use of the ball was poor and they both failed to get any crosses in to the box.
I keep reading fans say Anjeti will do it for us this season too yet he cant even get a start over a big lazy lump who does not even want to be here tame Eddy.
No wonder both McGregor and Turnbull tired later in the game carrying so many players not good enough for this level.
Christie showed everything Anje wants from his players tonight and he cant be faulted for his efforts.
i do hope Murray and Welsh will learn from the much needed centre backs we sign i see a young Billy McNeill in Dane Murray and Welsh had a decent game.

I agree Kennedy and Strachan have 2 go asap Kennedy what does he just sits there with grumpy face and of course laptop Strachan

I fully agree with everything you said Dixie im sure a lot of people do. Its up to management to sort it and THEY are not up to it either dissalusioned hh

Fresh ideas now that’s what is needed. ANGE can bring that in time just needs bigger squad options

Everytime I see Strachan with that LAPTOP I keep hearing him say ‘Look son dont worry about the blank screen, it’s a tactical ploy of my mate John’s!’

I:rofl::rofl: I agree it’s watching DUMB and DUMBER the movie

I don’t understand the vile unfounded criticism of Kennedy and Strachan. Are these disgruntled Lennon fans taking it out on the guys that he failed to manage.

Think we need to look far more seriously at our defensive coaching.

Coach simple tactics like looking to win every ball in your own box, keep talking to the guys beside and around you and have men on the bloody posts when set pieces are coming at you.

Could be another long hard season if we don’t address our defensive frailties soon, let’s hope the voices of the fans getting back will let the guys know :four_leaf_clover:

lets remember we have 2 centre backs on the coaching team McManus and Kennedy and also Strachan who was Gordon’s Laddie.
Lennon has gone and they have improved nothing between them as a defensive coaching team
It is un believable that a basic Stay on your feet cant be said to Welsh after Tuesday night.
This lad is 22 not 17 and he was still diving in during Saturdays match.
