In the grand scheme of things, them winning today is inconsequential.
It’s still another domestic trophyless season again for the blue half on Glasgow.
The same can’t be said for the green half of Glasgow.
One cup in the bag, the league almost won, and another cup up for grabs.
In short, another treble on the horizon.
They say the grass isn’t greener on the other side, but it certainly is in Glasgow, HH.
Our points difference was the saving grace for us yesterday.
I’m hoping our management team take on board that our last 3 Glasgow derby meetings has seen us lose a total of 9 goals and our tactics completely found out.
Although this season will bear fruit, our newest Glasgow rivals will be looking forward to next season knowing a few tactical tweaks can easily see them come out on top over us.
We have set up and played the same way in all our derbies this season. We have only won one of them. Certain players (Kuhn, Johnston, Engels and even McGregor) are being better managed by our opposition to limit their effectiveness in these games.
On yesterday’s game, we were poor. No flow with the passing and no one bursting a gut to get by their men and offering support to their team mates.
McCowan and Schlupp were awful in the derby. They gave the ball away carelessly so many times which was limiting any momentum we were trying to build. Kuhn was a shambles too. He could not handle the high press and never once looked to take his man on. Never thought I’d say it but Yang would have been more effective in Kuhn’s role if he’d of started.
Overall, TRIFC 2012 have our number now. They know how to stop us playing and can pick the right holes in us to get the goals they need to win the matches. It seems like our current group struggle for ideas when McGregor is out. He’s not got much longer left at the top so more investment will probably be needed in the next window to give us more strength and brains to get past our newest Glasgow rivals.
